Historic New England (HNE) seeks a skilled & experienced individual for the full-time role of Facilities & Maintenance Manager ("Manager"). Solution-oriented & resourceful, the Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, & leading a team in performing critical maintenance of employer owned historic sites & tenant apartments.
This position requires weekend availability, with regular New England region travel & flexible availability for periodic evening work & emergency response required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates cyclical & requested maintenance activities, ensures the documentation of the work, & ensures HNE standards are maintained.
- Monitors & collects data as required to support management of the sites.
- Performs minor maintenance activities at the sites as appropriate following HNE best practices & documents the work for the files.
- Responds to emergencies at the sites either in person or coordinates a response with the appropriate site or property care staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in facility management, or equivalent combination of skilled credentials to include a minimum six years of job-related experience in property management or a related field.
- Ability to lead & integrate effectively in a team environment, where clear verbal & written communication is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively plan & implement work processes that ensure projects are delivered on time & within scope.
- Working knowledge of word processing, e-mail, internet research, spreadsheets, digital photography & project management software.
- Valid driver’s license & means of transportation.
- Strong belief in, & demonstrated commitment to, HNE’s mission & values.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with facility management, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, & security equipment.
- Understanding of landlord & tenant laws.
- Team management experience.
