HOPE Community Services, Inc. is a leading outpatient treatment provider in south Oklahoma City.  We provide compassionate trauma informed care to individuals whose lives have been impacted by mental health and substance use disorders. We do this by providing compassionate and evidence-based treatment, aimed at improving the quality of life for those we serve.   


We are seeking a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) to join our Welcoming team. This position plays an important role in creating a positive and supportive first experience for individuals entering services at HOPE Community Services.

About the Position  
As a Peer Recovery Support Specialist on the Welcoming team, you will help create a compassionate, recovery-focused environment for individuals entering services at HOPE Community Services. Drawing from your lived experience, you’ll provide peer support, encouragement, advocacy, and guidance to help clients feel safe, welcomed, and connected during the intake and orientation process.


This role focuses on building trust, reducing anxiety around entering treatment, and helping individuals navigate the early stages of care. You’ll assist clients with understanding available services, accessing community resources, identifying recovery goals, and connecting to the supports they need to begin treatment successfully.


You will work closely with Access staff, therapists, case managers, and other team members to ensure clients receive a supportive and trauma-informed introduction to services. This position also includes documentation responsibilities, coordination of referrals, and opportunities to provide support in both office and community settings.



About the Program
  

The Welcoming team functions within HOPE Community Services’ Access and Intake Program, helping individuals feel supported and connected from the moment they enter services. This team plays a key role in creating a welcoming, trauma-informed experience for new clients seeking behavioral health treatment. Staff work with individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or co-occurring challenges, many of whom have experienced trauma or barriers to care. Through compassion, encouragement, and peer support, the Welcoming team helps individuals feel safe, engaged, and prepared to begin services successfully.



Requirements   

  • Demonstrated personal recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder   
  • HS Diploma or GED   
  • Reliable transportation   
  • Must obtain and maintain PRSS Certification 



Skills   

  • Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Empathy, compassion, and the ability to create a welcoming environment for individuals entering services.
  •  Ability to support individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a calm and recovery-focused manner.
  •  Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of community resources, advocacy, and recovery support services preferred.
