Insurance Inspector – Level 1

Reports To: VP of Loss Prevention
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $48,800 – $73,200 annually

Position Overview

HTM Insurance is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Inspector – Level 1 to join our Loss Prevention team. This role is responsible for conducting inspections for policyholders, identifying risks, recommending improvements, and helping prevent future claims. The Inspector also serves as a key representative of HTM with policyholders and brokers.

Key Responsibilities

Inspections & Risk Assessment

  • Conduct inspections for new and existing business within required timelines
  • Perform interior and exterior inspections of dwellings and outbuildings
  • Assess roofs, electrical systems, plumbing, heating systems, yard conditions, and life safety concerns
  • Discuss findings and recommendations with policyholders
  • Take photographs and document inspection findings
  • Complete rush inspections and follow-ups as required
  • Communicate significant concerns to Underwriting
  • Utilize company tools including infrared cameras, laser measures, and drones

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare inspection summary reports and building valuations
  • Document deficiencies and required corrective actions
  • Complete MIRA reports and related documentation
  • Identify and communicate risk improvement recommendations

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with brokers and policyholders
  • Attend meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities as required

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, trades, building inspection, or property/farm insurance
  • Knowledge of building construction, fire prevention, electrical systems, and building codes
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • WETT Certification or willingness to obtain

Preferred

  • College diploma in a related field
  • CIP courses or insurance industry experience
  • Electrical training or drone certification
