The Information Technology Operations Division of Human Rights Watch (HRW) seeks a Collaboration Experience Manager.

The Collaboration Experience Manager leads the team that oversees our internal collaboration and knowledge sharing platforms and is responsible for the successful management and adoption of these tools across the organization in close collaboration with the Director of IT Operations and other internal and external parties.

This role will be based within commuting distance of the following HRW offices, and must be willing to work from the office on an as-needed basis: Amsterdam, Beirut, Berlin, Brussels, Chicago, Johannesburg, London, Los Angeles, Nairobi, New York, San Francisco, São Paulo, Stockholm, Toronto, Washington D.C.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and manage the Collaboration Experience team, ensuring all HRW staff have appropriate digital spaces and are empowered to use them effectively to deliver our organization’s strategy. 
  2. Engage with relevant stakeholders across the organization to understand and enhance their experience and productivity with our digital spaces, improve collaboration across teams, and speed up critical information sharing.  
  3. Identify, propose, and develop opportunities to improve our internal collaboration practices and platforms. 
  4. Oversee our collaboration and knowledge sharing platforms (currently Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive) to enhance productivity and user experience. 
  5. Partner with stakeholders across the organization (particularly Internal Communications, Program Office, Information Management and Information Security) to ensure services meet both our business needs and compliance requirements.  
  6. Manage, research, and create materials and training to facilitate the adoption of agreed policies and practices. 
  7. Advise on and manage communications while maintaining strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  8. Advise on and manage the planning and execution of projects. 
  9. Oversee and evaluate the quality, content, and tone of all materials, making edits as needed. 
  10. Provide training to colleagues as needed. 

Requirements

  1. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business outcomes into technical needs and vice versa. 
  2. Experience driving adoption and user enablement in digital workplace technologies across a geographically dispersed multi-cultural organization. 
  3. Experience in using and managing Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms (particularly Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). 
  4. Proficiency in English. 
  1. Background in information architecture and/or enterprise content management 
  2. Experience partnering with security, internal communications, information governance, learning & development and infrastructure teams. 
  3. Understanding of identity management, data compliance, and information security in cloud environments 
  4. Experience leading technical staff, cross-functional teams, and managing external development partners. 
  5. Familiarity with Copilot, Exchange distribution lists and groups administration, and/or collaboration analytics.  
  6. Proficiency in languages other than English - particularly Arabic, French or Spanish. 
  7. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellbeing in team leadership.

Salary and Benefits: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers comprehensive compensation and benefits. If based in the United States, the salary range for this role is US$ 80,000 - US$ 88,000. If based in Toronto, the salary range for this role is CAD 100,000 - 110,000. Salary ranges in other locations vary according to local salary market data and are not a direct conversion of the ranges listed here.
