Position Overview
The Material Handler - Shop & Inventory Support is an entry-level position responsible for supporting daily shop, warehouse, and inventory operations. This role assists with parts pulling, material staging, cycle counting, receiving, stocking, inventory organization, general shop labor, and facility housekeeping. The position is designed to build knowledge of ARI inventory processes, parts identification, work-order support, safety requirements, and inventory systems while providing dependable hands-on support throughout the shop.
Success in this role comes from a willingness to learn, a commitment to accuracy, and an interest in working as part of a team. The ideal candidate takes pride in staying organized, pays attention to detail, asks questions when unsure, and understands how dependable inventory support contributes to the success of the entire operation.

- Work Schedule: This position typically works Monday through Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
- This position is based out of ARI’s shop headquarters - Springfield, OR.
- Wage Range: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Benefits: Full benefits package for eligible full-time employees.
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous material-handling experience or experience in a warehouse, shop, construction, manufacturing, automotive, or general labor environment is preferred but not required.
- Equipment Operation: Forklift experience or certification is preferred but not required.
- Technology Skills: Comfortable navigating technology and willing to learn new systems and software.
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license with no more than three moving violations and/or chargeable accidents within the past three years and no DUII convictions.
- Pre-Employment Drug Test & Physical: Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and physical is required. ARI also conducts random drug testing and post-accident testing as part of its commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

- Communication: Asks questions when unsure and promptly reports inventory discrepancies, unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, injuries, and near misses.
- Adaptability: Adjusts to changing priorities and provides support where needed across shop, yard, and inventory operations.
- Team-Oriented: Works effectively with mechanics, welders, inventory personnel, and Product Support staff.
- Initiative: Demonstrates continued growth in parts knowledge, system proficiency, inventory accuracy, productivity, and the ability to complete assigned work with increasing independence.
- Parts Pulling: Pulls parts and materials according to pick tickets, work orders, parts lists, or supervisor instructions; verifies part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and locations before removing material.
- Material Staging: Places materials in designated carts, containers, kits, pallets, Will Call, or staging areas for shop repairs, rebuilds, field service work, and internal requests.
- Inventory Returns: Returns unused or excess material to the proper location and assists with accurate labeling and identification.
- Inventory Discrepancies: Notifies supervision when material cannot be located, quantities do not match, or shortages, overages, unidentified parts, or duplicate locations are found.
- Cycle Counting: Performs assigned cycle counts, recounts, and periodic physical inventory counts; compares physical quantities to inventory records and completes documentation accurately.
- Receiving and Stocking: Assists with unloading, sorting, identifying, staging, and putting away incoming materials.
- Inventory Organization: Keeps racks, shelves, bins, pallets, storage locations, staging areas, and Will Call areas orderly and properly labeled.
- Shop Support: Provides general labor support; moves parts, tooling, materials, carts, pallets, hoses, and containers; and prepares work areas for repair, assembly, teardown, or staging.
- Loading and Unloading: Assists with loading and unloading materials when trained and authorized and uses safe lifting practices at all times.
- Housekeeping and 5S: Sweeps and cleans assigned areas; removes trash, cardboard, packaging, scrap, and debris; returns equipment to designated locations; and participates in 5S and facility organization projects.
- Safe Work Areas: Keeps aisles, walkways, exits, workstations, emergency equipment access, and inventory locations clear; cleans spills according to procedure and immediately reports hazardous conditions.
- Training and Development: Participates in training on parts identification, pick tickets, cycle counts, work-order processes, receiving, stocking, inventory systems, material-handling equipment, 5S, PPE, hazard recognition, and JHA requirements.
- Other Duties: Performs other reasonable shop, warehouse, inventory, and operational support duties based on business needs, training, and supervisor direction.
