ICON is looking to add a Safety expert to its growing EHS team that will be the boots-on-the-ground presence across ICON's residential, commercial, and defense construction sites and general industry operations — owning inspections, independent incident investigations, contractor compliance, and field training delivery.  Success looks like: all active construction and general industry sites receiving consistent audit coverage within 60 days; incident investigations owned end-to-end with corrective actions tracked to closure; field training delivered consistently to crews and subcontractors; and a visible, trusted EHS presence that reinforces ICON's safety culture every day.

Responsibilities

~1 min read

–   Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across all ICON operational environments — residential, commercial, and general industry including manufacturing, material science, and lab operations — documenting findings and driving corrective actions to closure.

–   Provide direct field support to contractors during high-hazard activities including fall protection, confined space, LOTO, and rigging & lifting.

–   Review and approve Job Safety Assessments and pre-task plans to ensure tasks, hazards, and mitigations align with the work being performed.

–   Champion ICON's safety culture on job sites — reinforcing safe behaviors, recognizing positive performance, and addressing unsafe conditions immediately.

–   Manage the PPE program including inventory, distribution, inspection, and compliance tracking for field personnel and contractors.

–   Lead independent incident, near-miss, and hazard investigations — determining root causes, documenting findings, and driving corrective and preventive measures to closure.

–   Maintain accurate incident investigation records and support OSHA log preparation and regulatory recordkeeping.

–   Report investigation findings and corrective action status to the Senior EHS Manager.

–   Deliver EHS training to field crews, subcontractors, and site personnel on required topics including hazard recognition, PPE use, fall protection, emergency procedures, and high-hazard activities.

–   Execute training schedules developed by the Senior EHS Manager, ensuring field personnel and subcontractors meet all regulatory training requirements.

–   Track and report field training completion to the Senior EHS Manager.

–   Manage contractor EHS compliance — ensuring subcontractors meet ICON's safety requirements prior to and during site operations.

–   Serve as the primary field EHS resource for contractors during high-hazard activities.

–   Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to EHS initiatives that advance ICON's zero-incident goals.

–   Assist the Senior EHS Manager with written safety program review, updates, and gap analyses.

–   Travel to ICON construction and operations sites as required to support field operations and audits.

Requirements

–   Demonstrated experience independently leading incident investigations and driving corrective actions to closure.

–   Experience conducting field safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across construction and general industry environments.

–   Familiarity with high-hazard construction activities including fall protection, confined space, LOTO, and rigging & lifting.

–   Strong communication and interpersonal skills — ability to engage effectively with field personnel, contractors, and leadership.

–   Ability to travel up to 25% to ICON construction and operations sites.
