Responsibilities

Take the lead in representing IGS in proceedings before public utilities commissions in geographic areas where IGS conducts business.

Continue and build on developed relationships with regulators, legislators, and industry counterparts.

Assume responsibility for maintaining compliance with the rules and regulations in the states in which IGS operates. Draft mass-market sales contracts and research laws and rules that relate to compliance issues.

Assist in evaluating and advocating for legislation related to IGS's businesses.

Coordinating with IGS business to develop positions and ensure effective advocacy.

Working with IGS businesses to implement compliance with rules and regulations.

Research laws and rules that relate to IGS businesses including electric, natural gas, solar, and other renewable energy.

Ad hoc projects as assigned.
Strong legal knowledge and expertise in energy, regulatory, and/or compliance. Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills; investigative mindset.
Work effectively at regulatory and legislative meetings with adverse parties, with industry groups, outside counsel, lobbyists and internal team members.
Ability to digest large, complex volumes of information and summarize for wide dissemination.
Strong oral and written communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Litigation skills.
General understanding of the businesses and the industries they support.
Adaptable, with the ability to multitask and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Respect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.
The candidate should have 6+ years of legal experience and be admitted to practice law in Ohio. We are open to considering candidates with less than 5 years experience for a Regulatory Counsel role.
Strong preference for candidates with experience working with energy law, utilities commissions, legislators and other regulatory bodies.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.
*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.
