Hiring Range: $90,000 to $105,000/year for a 40 hour work week

Project Contract: Maternity Leave Coverage - June 2026 to 13 August 2027

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Accountable for the day-to-day accounting functions encompassing full cycle accounting, including:


  • Accounts receivable
  • Overseeing processing and payment of vendor invoices
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining Chart of Accounts and General Ledger
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Reviewing payroll semi-monthly and being the Payroll Administrator back-up
  • Liaise with Head Office and other location regarding various finance matters


  1. Weekly, Monthly and Annual Corporate Reporting:


  • Accountable for the timely preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
  • Accountable for preparation of all working papers to support financial statements, along with account analysis
  • Preparation of weekly short term cash flow analysis


  1. Tax compliance:


  • Overseeing the preparation of all GST, PST, WCB, EHT etc. reports


  1. Work closely with Finance Director to respond to audit queries regarding statutory and periodic 3rd party audits.


  1. Accountable for Project Reporting Duties including:


  • Work with the Finance Director to identify and develop new systems for monitoring and controlling film costs.
  • Provide analysis of weekly variances of each film project and department, looking at estimated total costs and estimated profit margins.
  • Prepare all project costing reports for client tax claims.
  • Liaise with CRA auditors re various tax audits.
  • Administrative and other adhoc duties, as required.


  1. Training and management of Payroll Administrator, A/P Clerk, and other direct reports as team grows.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a mid-senior level accounting role
  • Knowledge of the Visual Effects industry is an asset
  • CPA Designation
  • High level working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP ByDesign is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to multi task and work in a fast paced environment, with timely results
