InCharge Energy is seeking a strategic and technically accomplished Director of Electrical Engineering & Technical Standards to build and lead an engineering organization that enables the successful deployment, operation, and scaling of electrical infrastructure assets across North America. As part of the Engineering and Project Delivery team, you will establish engineering standards, lead estimating and technical design functions, and work directly with the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Director of Project Management, Operations, EPC teams, Sales, and Executive Leadership. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, improving project execution, reducing costs, and creating standardized processes that support InCharge Energy's continued growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Electrical Engineers, Designers, Estimators, CAD personnel, and QA/QC teams while establishing a high-performing engineering organization
  • Own and maintain company engineering standards for EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, microgrids, medium-voltage systems, switchgear, utility interconnections, and EV charging estimating
  • Develop standardized drawing packages, bill of material (BOM) libraries, ROM estimating templates, engineering specifications, and quality assurance processes to improve consistency and scalability
  • Drive engineering innovation through design automation, AI-assisted engineering tools, and template-based project execution to improve efficiency and reduce engineering costs
  • Partner closely with EPC Operations, Construction, and Project Management teams to reduce RFIs, change orders, field engineering issues, and project execution risk
  • Serve as the company's technical authority for NEC compliance, protection and coordination studies, grounding systems, commissioning, utility coordination, and engineering best practices
  • Support strategic sales opportunities, customer presentations, and executive-level technical discussions while evaluating emerging technologies including Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Distributed Energy Resources (DER), load management, and energy management systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in electrical engineering, engineering management, or EPC project delivery
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); multi-state licensure preferred
  • Extensive experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, commercial power systems, EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), distributed energy resources (DER), microgrids, and utility interconnections
  • Strong customer-facing leadership experience with the ability to present technical solutions to executive stakeholders
  • Experience reviewing cost estimates to assure accurate, market-based pricing and cost-efficient designs
  • Experience developing engineering standards, quality management systems, estimating processes, and standardized design documentation
  • Experience using AutoCAD, electrical design software, engineering automation tools, AI-assisted design technologies, and estimating platforms
  • Strategic, collaborative, innovative, quality-focused, highly organized, results-driven, and capable of leading organizational change
  • Ability to conduct field site walks and inspections at customer facilities and construction sites
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–30% domestically
  • This position is based in Richmond, VA, Fort Worth, TX, or South Los Angeles, CA and operates in a collaborative office environment with regular visits to customer and project sites
US Salary Range
$160,000$185,000 USD
