The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

Location: Bloomington Hospital

Shift: Full Time Day

 

Oversees the technical work within specified areas to ensure quality and acceptability of tests results across the regional laboratory sites. Ensures complete accurate laboratory record keeping regarding training, competency, quality control, quality assurance, instrument function checks, maintenance, reagents, validation, and correlation. Writes, reviews, and updates laboratory policies and procedures. Assists with validation and correlations, as needed. Ensures laboratory CAP and depending on the laboratory environment/department ASHI regulation compliance and inspection readiness by assembling required evidence of compliance for the laboratory. Collects and analyzes data and prepares a variety of special and recurring analyses and reports, as needed. Develops training protocols, and documents, and ensures completion of training of all team members through train the trainer deployment. Works directly with team members to correct compliance concerns. Provides Lab Supervisor(s) information and feedback regarding team member performance on compliance issues. Attends system committee meetings and communicates action items, as needed, to regional lab leaders and team members. Works with other technical specialists to create regional and system solutions. Manages regional and system projects related to the technical and regulatory compliance functions within the laboratory. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate publications and communication/interaction with subject matter experts.

  • Bachelor's in medical technology, chemical, physical or biological science is required.
  • Requires Qualification as CLIA Technical Consultant (TC) and Technical Supervisor (TS).
  • Minimum 4 years experience in high complexity laboratory testing is required. Minimum 2 years experience in moderate complexity testing is required. Requires appropriate certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent certification.
  • Requires appropriate certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA or equivalent certification. May require CHS(ACHI) certification, depending on the laboratory environment/department.
  • Requires travel to locations within region on a regular basis. Travel to other regions, as needed.
  • Requires extensive knowledge about computers and use of various software programs.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of standard operating procedures and testing techniques.
  • Requires ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Requires knowledge of state and federal regulations.
