IEM is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for our Jacksonville location. This role is responsible for day-to-day Work Center (WC) execution, development, optimization, and documentation of metal fabrication and assembly processes. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, this role will ensure that all team members operate safely, meet schedule targets, and deliver high-quality output in alignment with KPIs. This role has multiple responsibilities within the Center of Excellence and will partner closely with the Operations Manager to identify constraints, support continuous improvement, test alternative solutions, participate in first of kind build, and maintain flow across the work center.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assist PE with optimization of metal fabrication and assembly processes, ensuring they meet quality and efficiency standards.
- →Support the development of work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent production practices.
- →Support quality assurance efforts by monitoring production processes and participating in root cause analysis for any defects or issues.
- →Contribute to the execution of engineering projects, including process validations, capacity analysis, and production trials under the direction of senior engineers.
- →Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and process changes.
- →Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall production outcomes.
- →Support Lean Manufacturing principles and other improvement methodologies.
- →Work closely with engineers to gain hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, including exposure to process design, optimization, and quality control.
- →Assist in the creation of training programs for operators and design engineers on process curriculum.
- →Enforce safety protocols, 5S practices, standard work, and compliance with operational policies.
- →Support cross-training, and upskilling of team members in partnership with Learning & Development.
- →Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for issues impacting quality, delivery, or safety.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in electronics, electromechanics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably in electrical or industrial equipment.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of quality control systems and practices.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety standards and procedures.
- Office work is performed in an office setting that is climate controlled. Warehouse work is not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust, and fumes. Regularly required to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods (approximately 40% of the workday).
- Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.; Buddy lift up to 100 lbs. Mechanical assistance required for loads exceeding 100 lbs. (not added personnel).
