The Paint & Color Manager is responsible for coordinating paint operations in support of production, including color sample management, paint preparation, inventory control, production support, and environmental compliance. This role works closely with production, project management, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure accurate color matching, material availability, and efficient workflow throughout the finishing process.


Essential Responsibilities

Color Management & Sample Coordination

  • Coordinate color matching and sample preparation activities
  • Maintain color records, formulas, and sample tracking systems
  • Prepare and ship customer color samples
  • Support ongoing verification and maintenance of approved color formulas
  • Maintain paint sample and spray booth areas

Purchasing & Inventory Support

  • Maintain inventory lists for paint and related production materials
  • Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment needs
  • Complete purchase requisitions for paint, chemicals, and production supplies
  • Support inventory accuracy and material tracking throughout production

Production Support

  • Prepare paint work orders according to production schedules
  • Verify paint formulas and prepare materials for production use
  • Coordinate paint availability with production personnel
  • Manage storage and tracking of production paint materials

Inventory & Reporting

  • Assist with monthly and annual inventory processes
  • Maintain inventory accuracy for paint and related materials
  • Support costing and material usage tracking
  • Maintain documentation and production records

Environmental & Safety Compliance

  • Support hazardous waste handling and disposal procedures
  • Assist with required environmental and air emission reporting
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintain compliance documentation
  • Maintain organized and safe work areas

Equipment & System Maintenance

  • Maintain paint dispensing and color management systems
  • Support routine cleaning and upkeep of paint equipment
  • Coordinate service or technical support when required

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and data entry
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in paint, coatings, manufacturing, or finishing operations
  • Color matching or paint formulation experience
  • Purchasing or inventory management experience
  • Familiarity with production scheduling or ERP systems
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
