Senior Staff Engineer Software

We are seeking a highly experienced Software Technical Lead to lead a small team of Embedded Software engineers in the development and delivery of advanced automotive software solutions. This role combines strong technical leadership in microcontroller-based systems with hands-on engineering management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will drive the integration and bundling of software components across multiple vendors, ensure timely delivery of NRE (Non- Recurring Engineering) projects, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver safety-critical, production-ready deliverables. You will play a pivotal role in shaping Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architectures while managing end-to-end execution from proof-of-concept to customer delivery. Your Role Key responsibilities in your new role Technical Leadership & Architecture * Design, develop, and optimize microcontroller device drivers, RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems), BSW (Basic Software) layers, and Crypto Libraries. * Lead the integration and bundling of software components across multiple Tier-1 / semiconductor vendors (e.g., MCAL + RTOS bundles, MCAL + EV Stack bundles). * Provide deep expertise in SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) stacks and ensure scalable, modular software architectures. Team Management & Project Delivery * Manage and mentor a small team of embedded software engineers * Plan, track, and deliver multiple NRE projects on time and within budget, ensuring high quality and adherence to automotive standards (functional safety, cybersecurity, etc.). * Conduct performance reviews, skill development, and resource planning for the team Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Ownership * Work closely with QFS, CM (Configuration Management), and other stakeholders to create and maintain a single safety case, single installer, and single User Manual (UM) across bundled software components * Drive standardization and reuse initiatives to simplify integration and reduce duplication. Business & Pre-Sales Support * Develop Proofs of Concept (PoC) for new software bundles. * Prepare technical quotes, effort estimates, and proposals for the business development and sales teams * Participate in customer discussions and technical feasibility assessments for new opportunities. Your Profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related field. * 10+ years in embedded software development, with at least 3–5 years in a technical lead or engineering management role. * Strong expertise in microcontroller device drivers and low-level firmware. * In-depth knowledge of RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, AUTOSAR-compliant OS, etc.). * Hands-on experience with BSW stacks and Crypto Libraries (security, secure boot, HSM, etc.). * Proven experience in SDV software stacks. * Experience integrating software bundles from multiple vendors (MCAL, RTOS, EV/ electrification stacks, etc.). * Demonstrated success managing small-to-medium engineering teams and delivering complex NRE projects on schedule. * Experience working with quality, functional safety (ISO 26262), and configuration management teams. * Ability to create consolidated deliverables (safety case, installer packages, documentation) Additional Strengths: * Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. * Experience with automotive SPICE, ASPICE, or similar process frameworks is a plus. * Familiarity with agile methodologies in embedded environments.
