Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role:
* Focus on the future: Migrate an existing Python application from bare ODBC/raw SQL to SQLAlchemy (ORM/Core) targeting an Oracle database, improving maintainability and performance
* Build quality in: Add and maintain existing automated tests with pytest; ensure regression-safety throughout the migration
* Expand your horizons: Introduce pandas where it makes sense to simplify data wrangling and analysis
* Experiment and learn: At your discretion, explore genAI assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate repetitive refactors and improve developer experience
* Boost your CV: Gain hands-on and industry level experience with pandas, SQL, Oracle, pytest, ELK, GitLab, and containerization
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed:
* Study field: Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related subject
* Programming skills: Experienced in programming language Python
* Interests: In Embedded Software, Test Driven Development (TDD) and in development of portable Software in Python (Linux, Windows)
* Experience: Sound expertise in Unix Shell scripting and have experience with Git, Bitbucket, Gerrit GitLab or Jenkins is a plus
* Language skills: Fluently speaking English, with German being a plus

Important information:
* Working part-time: The focus is on studies. That’s why working as a student employee during lecture period is limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
* Proper students (according to the German law) are welcome: To work as a student employee with us, you must be enrolled at a university and not have completed all of your exams or modules for your degree program. You must not be in a semester of leave. We look forward to welcoming you to our team for at least 6 months.
* You should live close to the site: For good collaboration, it is important to us that you can come to the office regularly to integrate to the team.
