Position Overview
Inframark is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support the A&I team. This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside engineers and field technicians to support SCADA systems, PLC programming, instrumentation, and control system projects across water and wastewater facilities.
The intern will gain real-world exposure to industrial automation, data acquisition, and process control in critical infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist engineers with PLC and HMI/SCADA programming, configuration, and troubleshooting
Support instrumentation calibration, testing, and documentation (flow meters, pressure sensors, level transmitters, etc.)
Help review and update P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
Participate in field visits to water and wastewater treatment facilities to support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities
Collect and analyze operational data to support process optimization and reporting
Assist with networking and communication systems (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, telemetry systems)
Maintain and organize project documentation, drawings, and engineering files
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and project management
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering (or related field)
Basic understanding of industrial automation, control systems, or instrumentation
Familiarity with PLC programming concepts (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar is a plus)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Valid driver’s license (for field site visits, if required)
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to SCADA systems (Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, etc.)
Knowledge of electrical schematics and industrial controls
Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting tools
Interest in water/wastewater or infrastructure systems
Learning Opportunities

Exposure to critical infrastructure operations and environmental compliance
Mentorship from experienced engineers and technicians
Insight into project lifecycle: design → implementation → commissioning → maintenance
Work Environment
Combination of office, remote, and field environments
May require travel to local treatment plants or client sites
Work may include exposure to industrial environments (appropriate PPE provided)
