As Executive Director of Event Marketing you will play a critical role in the growth and impact of Business Insider Live by driving event marketing strategy, attendee experience and community building, across our portfolio of editorially driven live journalism experiences.

This role is responsible for establishing the marketing strategy powering BI Live, including building strategic marketing campaigns that amplify BI Live’s brand and overseeing targeting event specific recruitment efforts building a community, and delivering exceptional experiences that reflect the voice of Business Insider. The position will report to the VP of Business Insider Live Events and work cross-functionally with editorial, design, communications, and sales teams to ensure each event is positioned for maximum visibility and engagement.

This position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop external brand and positioning for BI Live, ensure the right balance between editorial integrity, brand amplification, and sponsor/partner visibility across  
  • Develop and execute multichannel marketing campaigns to promote BI Live tentpoles and built-if-bought events across email, display, social, editorial, and partner channels.
  • Collaborate with editorial, brand marketing, and communications teams to ensure alignment in tone, voice, and positioning across all promotional content.
  • Develop marketing partnerships and collaborative programs that elevate and grow the BI Live brand to target audiences 
  • Build strategic top and bottom funnel audience recruitment strategies across the BI Live event portfolio
  • Curate high-value attendee cohorts that reflect Business Insider’s readership and align with sponsor goals.
  • Develop and grow BI Live’s executive audience segments—including CMOs, CEOs, and other business decision-makers—by cultivating relationships and curating invitation strategies that build an enduring leadership community.
  • Collaborate with Audience and Growth teams to build live events into the reader and digital audience ecosystem of Business Insider
  • Work collaboratively with sales team with pre-sale marketing insights that demonstrate value to support new business and renewals 
  • With support of VP of BI Live, establish KPI benchmarks across all campaigns, monitor progress and resource allocation towards goals 
  • Manage and mentor Manager of Audience Development
  • 10+ years of experience in event marketing, audience development, or brand strategy, preferably within media, publishing, or B2B/B2C event environments.
  • Proven success in building and scaling premium audience experiences across multichannel campaigns.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to collaborate across functions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience with audience segmentation, marketing automation platforms, and campaign reporting tools.
  • Passion for live events, journalism, and connecting communities through meaningful content experiences.
  • Based in NYC with a requirement of 2-3 days in office headquarters. 
  • Ability to attend similar industry events to help foster relationships in NYC and amplify the BI Live event experience.
