This is an exciting time to join ION where you will be joining an existing team with ample opportunity to make your mark.  With experience in the hosted infrastructure space (network/systems/databases/private cloud), you will be responsible for ensuring the operational processes and resources required to provide the highest level of availability and support for our clients production trading systems remain consistent and aligned to global operations standards..
The successful candidate will have a track record in managing operations teams in mission critical production environments coupled with an deep knowledge of  technologies, standards, and industry guidelines as they apply to the hosted infrastructure space.
Operating a critical service the successful candidate will be directly responsible for day to day activities of the platform team with key involvement in managing resources delivering time sensitive workstreams in an ITIL based environment (incident, change, problem management). Essential will be a can do attitude which will see the successful candidate responsible for support of our global clients production trading environments.
  • Support the Global Head of Infrastructure through management and leadership of the L1-L3 operations team including recruitment , performance and resource management activities
  • Own responsibility for managing/planning day to day operational activities necessary to meet ongoing business demand in a fast pace challenging environment
  • Ensure highest levels of service availability are maintained through adherence to all incident, change and problem processes
  • Act as a management escalation point for all monitoring, alerting and operational related issues as  required by the business within own regional time zone.
  • Support the Global Head of Infrastructure in the continuous improvement cycle driving improvements in ION's overall operating efficiency
  • Provision of Major Incident support during unplanned service outages including acting as  focal point for information gathering activities  during and post incident as part of root cause analysis activities within own regional time zone.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of system engineers, ensuring alignment with global standards and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and best practices to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Define and monitor KPIs and metrics for team performance and service delivery, presenting operational reports and improvement plans to senior management.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear communication and actionable insights on operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices and regulatory requirements, particularly within financial services environments.
  • Experience of managing a team (Manager/Team Lead/Senior Engineer) working in a relevant operations environment supporting  HA/Mission Critical systems and services at an enterprise scale.
  • An understanding of the nature and interdependencies of mission critical systems  in support of  wider business deliverables (Data Centres, power distribution, connectivity, networking, systems/storage, cloud)
  • Problem solver with attention to detail ideally with strong engineering background in one or more technical disciplines (networks/systems)
  • Exposure to or experience in supporting Financial Services environments a benefit
  • Proven experience leading small technical teams, including succession planning and career development.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Commitment to staff development, engagement, and retention, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell) is desirable. Aswell as experience of running Linux systems at scale.
