Role Summary:
The Sports Supervisor is responsible for organising, leading, and supervising
sporting activities for boarders at The Island Boarding Campus. This role promotes
physical health, teamwork, and personal development through a varied sports
programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and supervise daily and weekend sporting activities, including
team sports, individual fitness, and water-based activities where available.
Ensure all sports activities are conducted safely, following risk assessments
and health and safety guidelines. - Encourage boarders of all abilities to participate, promoting inclusivity and
enjoyment.
- Maintain and manage sports equipment and facilities, reporting any
maintenance needs. - Collaborate with the Residential team to coordinate evening and weekend
activity schedules. - Supervise off-campus sports trips, including local competitions and external
sports facilities. - Support boarders in developing leadership skills through sports, such as
assisting with house teams or competitions.
Additional Duties - Work according to the duty rota 10 hours per week, including weekends and
public holidays during term time. - Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the Duty
Designated Safeguarding Lead. - Encourage boarders to use English as the primary language during activities.
- Participate in boarding staff training and house team meetings.
Candidate Requirements - Experience in coaching or supervising sports for children or young people.
- Knowledge of sports risk assessment and safety procedures.
- Genuine interest in running and supervising sport events.
- First aid qualification (desirable).
- Experience with water sports (desirable).
- Proficient in Google Workspace and basic IT systems.
