A position has become available for a proactive, technically strong, and business-minded Tax Manager to join our tax team and take primary responsibility for tax matters relating to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Spain.
About the Role
~1 min readAs a member of the tax team, reporting to the Head of Group Tax, you will work closely with colleagues across a wide range of functions, including accounting, legal, treasury, procurement, HR, and other business teams.
In this role, you will take ownership of a broad range of tax matters relating to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Spain, with a particular focus on corporate income tax and related areas, while also supporting other tax topics as they arise. You will work in close collaboration with other members of the tax team to combine local country knowledge, technical expertise, and practical business judgment in order to arrive at the best solutions for JetBrains.

- Act as a key point of contact for tax matters relating mainly to the Netherlands, as well as to the United Kingdom and Spain.
- Manage and oversee compliance with corporate income tax and related obligations in the countries under your supervision, and support other teams across the group in maintaining such compliance.
- Provide practical and timely tax support to business teams on matters connected with the jurisdictions under your supervision.
- Monitor developments in tax legislation, case law, and administrative practice, and translate them into clear actions, risk mitigation measures, and optimization opportunities.
- Oversee communications with tax authorities, external tax advisers, and other external stakeholders in close coordination with local accounting teams and other relevant colleagues.
- Manage and support tax audits, investigations, disputes, and litigation as they arise.
- Review a broad range of transactions, contracts, corporate arrangements, and structural changes from a tax perspective.
- Analyze technical tax issues, including matters relating to local tax rules, tax treaties, withholding taxes, permanent establishment risks, and other cross-border tax questions.
- Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of transfer pricing policies, protocols, and documentation, and help ensure compliance with local transfer pricing requirements.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of tax processes, controls, and internal guidance to support sustainable compliance and efficient ways of working.
- Work with colleagues across finance and other functions on group-wide projects with tax implications.
- Where relevant, provide support on other tax topics connected with the countries under your supervision, including indirect tax, employment tax, and tax accounting-related matters.
- Have a higher education degree in taxation, law, economics, accounting, or a related field.
- Have at least seven years of relevant taxation experience, preferably gained in a big four environment and/or an in-house multinational role.
- Possess strong technical knowledge of corporate tax matters, with solid experience in European taxation environments.
- Thoroughly understand the taxation system and practical tax compliance requirements in the Netherlands.
- Are comfortable working on both advisory and operational tax matters.
- Are proactive, well-organized, and able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across teams, locations, and functions.
- Possess strong analytical skills and sound business judgment.
- Are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Are proficient in Dutch or Spanish.
- Have experience with the taxation systems in the United Kingdom and Spain.
