Our client is defining a new category of technology—the Agentic Data Plane (ADP)—which securely connects AI agents with enterprise data and systems. Built on a multi-modal data streaming engine, their platform empowers real-time, autonomous agentic applications for a global roster of enterprise clients (including tech giants, major telecom providers, and top-tier U.S. banks).
Backed by tier-one venture capital firms, this is a diverse, people-first, and fully distributed global organization.
Our client is seeking an experienced, Staff Software Engineer to define the technical direction for a newly established team based in Warsaw. This team owns the core customer-facing journeys for our client's Cloud platform, including user onboarding and authentication, account management, usage-based billing, payment processing, and cloud marketplace integrations.
In this role, you will lead the architecture across these critical workstreams, take ownership of existing systems, and drive the product and technical roadmaps necessary to ensure every customer interaction is reliable, transparent, and secure. You will maintain a high standard for software quality in customer-facing environments and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across engineering, product, design, finance, and sales.
You will be joining a small, cross-functional, and newly formed Cloud engineering team operating out of our client's Warsaw office. This team is responsible for the foundational services that power how customers register, manage accounts, and pay for services. Specifically, the team owns:
-
Identity & Access: Registration, sign-up, and sign-in journeys.
-
Account Management: Core user and account administration.
-
Usage-Based Billing (UBB): Metering and billing orchestration via Metronome.
-
Payment Processing: Credit card management for self-service users via Stripe.
-
Cloud Marketplaces: Integrations with AWS, GCP, and Azure for UBB, as well as public and private offers (with more platforms planned).
The team is currently transitioning ownership of these systems from legacy teams, stabilizing the existing infrastructure, and charting a roadmap to maximize reliability. This cross-functional unit partners closely with design, product management, and finance. Our client hires for a complementary mix of skills across the entire team rather than expecting every individual to possess every single skill. Additionally, the organization actively leverages advanced AI tooling and workflows to optimize daily engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
- Define and lead the technical strategy for onboarding, marketplace, billing, and payment workflows across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
-
Own the architecture for correctness-critical billing, metering, and payment data streams—ensuring strong idempotency, reconciliation, and auditability.
-
Partner with product management, finance, and commercial stakeholders to drive multi-quarter roadmaps, translating ambiguous business requirements into robust technical designs and executable workstreams.
-
Oversee the onboarding of inherited systems, assessing their current state, improving stability, and planning their long-term evolution.
-
Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks across the team’s domain.
-
Establish and uphold rigorous standards for system reliability, security, and the privacy of customer PII and financial data.
-
Mentor team members, elevate engineering practices, and champion initiatives that drive operational excellence.
-
Participate in the on-call escalation rotation, focusing on reducing incident frequency and improving overall system health.
- Extensive experience designing, operating, and scaling reliable systems within public cloud environments, alongside a history of leading major technical projects from conception to production.
-
Strong proficiency in Go.
-
Sufficient frontend familiarity to successfully own and maintain customer-facing UIs alongside design support (specialist depth is not required).
-
Proven experience utilizing AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot/Codex) to accelerate prototyping, software delivery, and operations.
-
Superb communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a globally distributed, asynchronous environment and collaborate effectively with finance, product, design, and business teams.
- Deep expertise in usage-based billing/metering (Metronome or similar), cloud marketplace integrations (AWS, GCP, Azure commercial marketplaces), payment gateways (Stripe), or identity/auth systems.
-
Experience building or operating large-scale SaaS billing and account management platforms.
-
Familiarity with React and TypeScript for frontend UI development.
-
Experience modernizing, refactoring, and stabilizing inherited or legacy systems.
-
Hands-on experience as a user of streaming platforms or data infrastructure tools.
