A growing operations-driven organization is seeking an Inventory and Planning Analyst to support demand forecasting, supply planning, and inventory management across a dynamic product environment.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working at the intersection of data, operations, and execution. The position offers a combination of analytical planning responsibilities and hands-on involvement in inventory and warehouse operations.
This position is responsible for optimizing the organization's supply chain by balancing customer demand through sales analysis, customer portals and sales forecast analyzed against on hand inventory and lead times. The role analyzes data to develop accurate forecasts, maintains optimal inventory levels, and works across departments to ensure efficient operations and meet financial goals. The position directly impacts customer satisfaction, inventory efficiency, inventory turns and cost management through data-driven planning and decision support.

What You’ll Do
Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Develop and maintain 12-month rolling demand forecasts using statistical models, historical data, and business intelligence
- Collaborate with sales, finance and marketing to incorporate market trends, promotions, and business initiatives into forecasts
- Monitor and improve forecast accuracy through regular analysis and methodology refinements
- Translate sales forecasts into actionable supply requirements
Inventory Optimization & Management
- Establish optimal inventory targets and safety stock levels based on demand variability and service requirements
- Identify and address excess, obsolete, or at-risk inventory through regular reviews
- Balance inventory investments against service level goals to maximize working capital efficiency
- Recommend inventory positioning strategies that minimize carrying costs while ensuring availability
- Cycle counting and problem solving
Supply Planning & Risk Management
- Develop supply plans that align with demand forecasts while respecting capacity constraints
- Collaborate and procure from suppliers to ensure material availability and optimize order quantities
- Identify potential supply disruptions and develop mitigation strategies with cost/benefit analysis
- Monitor supplier performance and lead times to anticipate and address reliability issues
Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as key liaison between sales, operations, and supply chain departments
- Actively participate in S&OP meetings, providing data-driven insights and recommendations
- Communicate supply constraints and allocation strategies during shortage situations
- Partner with finance to align supply plans with financial forecasts and objectives
Analysis, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Design and maintain dashboards tracking key metrics (forecast accuracy, inventory turns, fill rates)
- Generate regular reports on demand patterns, inventory health, and supply performance
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency
- Lead or support supply chain improvement projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, or demand planning
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and support planning decisions
- Experience working in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Working knowledge of inventory control and replenishment concepts (min/max, safety stock, etc.)
- Ability to operate in both analytical and hands-on environments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Analytics, or related field APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP)
- Experience with S&OP or structured planning processes
- Exposure to reporting or visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Background in manufacturing, distribution, or product-based environments
Work Environment
- Combination of office and warehouse work
- Physical activity required, including standing, walking, and light lifting
- Ability to perform primarily seated sedentary work, typing, repetitive, small motor activity, grasping, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting objects less than 10lbs frequently, climbing occasionally.
- Exposure to an operational environment with equipment and varying conditions
