JOB TITLE: Director Product Management

JOB SUMMARY:
You will lead the product strategy for a new monetization initiative around short-form, focusing on converting free viewers into paying subscribers. You own the entire conversion funnel—from free-to-paid paywall strategy, payment flows, pricing optimization, and subscriber retention mechanics. This role combines deep product intuition with data-driven rigor. You will balance user acquisition, conversion rate optimization, and lifetime value maximization. You'll collaborate closely with Growth, Content, Design, Data Science, and Engineering teams to execute a product roadmap that drives sustainable subscription growth. This is an IC role with high ownership. As the initiative scales, you may lead a small PM team.
Monetization Architecture & Paywalls – Design and optimize paywall strategy, including placement timing, messaging, friction, and hard/soft paywalls to maximize conversion without alienating users
Pricing & Plan Strategy – Drive pricing decisions, plan bundling, promotional mechanics, and regional customization based on cohort analysis, competitive landscape, and willingness-to-pay research
Conversion Funnel Optimization – Define and refine payment flows, nudge strategies, plan selection UI, and post-signup flows. Own conversion metrics at each stage
Retention & ARPU – Collaborate with Growth and Content to define content hooks, retention mechanics, and upsell opportunities. Partner with ML team to segment subscribers and tailor retention strategies
Analytics & Insights – Perform rigorous cohort analysis, LTV/CAC modeling, and churn analysis. Identify behavioral patterns that predict conversion and retention
Experimentation – Design and run A/B tests on paywall timing, pricing, messaging, UI/UX. Build a culture of rapid experimentation and learning
Cross-Functional Leadership – Partner with Engineering, Design, Data, Content, and Growth teams. Drive alignment on roadmap, timelines, and success metrics
Market & Competitive Intelligence – Monitor competitor monetization strategies, industry trends, and emerging payment technologies. Synthesize insights into product roadmap priorities
Conversion Science & Transaction Funnels – Proven track record optimizing checkout flows, reducing friction, and improving payment conversion rates. Experience with high-transacting consumer businesses (gaming, subscriptions, e-commerce) is essential
Data-Driven Decision Making – Deep comfort with ARPU, LTV, CAC, churn, and cohort analysis. Ability to extract insights from large datasets and validate decisions with data
Monetization Strategy – Experience designing subscription tiers, pricing, bundling, or promotional strategies. Understanding of unit economics and pricing psychology
Experimentation Mindset – Comfort running A/B tests, interpreting statistical significance, and iterating based on learnings
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Ability to influence and align teams across Engineering, Design, Data, and Content without direct authority. Strong communication and stakeholder management
Startup Mentality – Entrepreneurial drive, bias toward action, and comfort with ambiguity. Ability to prioritize ruthlessly and ship fast
Consumer Intuition – Deep understanding of consumer behavior, content consumption habits, and decision-making psychology
5–8+ years of Product Management in consumer technology, with focus on monetization, payments, subscriptions, or growth
Experience in high-growth content/media platforms (streaming, social, gaming, news)
Track record shipping products that increased ARPU, improved conversion rates, or reduced churn
Familiarity with payment platforms, recurring billing, or local payment methods (relevant for India/global)
Experience working in or managing high-engagement consumer audiences (100M+ users)
Bachelor's degree in any field; advanced degree a plus
