The team focuses on generating high-quality, actionable insights through qualitative research and data interpretation, enabling informed decision-making across content, marketing, and product functions.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, the function plays a key role in bringing the voice of the consumer into business decisions, ensuring that audience perspectives are consistently reflected in how content is evaluated, positioned, and promoted.
About the Role
~3 min readThis role will be responsible for leading qualitative audience insights to support decision-making across content, marketing, and product teams at JioHotstar.
In essence, this is an insights-first role focused on decoding audience behavior and translating it into clear, actionable inputs for the business. It has three key dimensions:
(i) an insights leader capable of deeply understanding audience motivations, preferences, and consumption patterns,
(ii) a translator of insights who can convert research findings into practical, business-relevant recommendations,
(iii) a collaborator who works closely with multiple teams to ensure insights are effectively applied across decisions.

Conduct and interpret audience research to identify key viewer segments, preferences, and behaviors, supporting overall content strategy and programming decisions.

Analyze trends across the content lifecycle, including ideation, production, creative elements, and marketing, to determine the potential for content acquisition, audience engagement, and long-term performance.

Develop and deliver insightful reports for various teams—such as product, content, and marketing—using data to drive strategic, data-backed decisions on content creation and promotion.

Create predictive models to forecast future user behavior and engagement patterns, helping optimize investment in content and fine-tune release strategies.

Collaborate with marketing, content, and product teams to align on key insights that influence promotional efforts, content prioritization, and user retention.

Stay ahead of industry trends and audience shifts, leveraging market data to continuously refine content insights and strategies for future releases.

Identify growth opportunities through data analysis, presenting recommendations to leadership on potential content investments and audience development initiatives.

12+ years of experience in content analytics, audience research, or related roles, preferably within the media, entertainment, or streaming industries.

Proven expertise in analyzing audience behavior and providing actionable insights to drive content strategy, investment, and acquisition decisions.

Experience with predictive modeling, user behavior forecasting, and content lifecycle analysis.

Strong proficiency with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SQL, Python, R, or other data platforms.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise insights for cross-functional teams and leadership.

Experience managing and mentoring data teams, with a focus on fostering innovation and analytical rigor.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-rich environment, balancing long-term strategic goals with immediate analytical needs.

Experience working within streaming platforms or OTT content ecosystems.

Strong understanding of consumer behavior trends in media consumption and content engagement.

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present findings clearly and effectively.

Bachelor/Post Graduate degree
