The Patient Support Services Department (PSSD) serves as the front line of the NIH Clinical Center, delivering exceptional customer service, patient registration, appointment coordination, and travel support.
As a Medical Support Assistant, you will act as a trusted guide for patients and families navigating complex clinical research visits—ensuring accurate registration, smooth scheduling, clear communication, and a welcoming experience at every interaction. This is a long‑term, full‑time position in a nationally respected healthcare environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as the Face of NIH Clinical Center
- Manage Scheduling & Patient Flow
- Support Admissions & Patient Travel
- Provide Essential Clinical & Administrative Support
Requirements

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong clerical and administrative skills (scheduling, data entry, records management)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm in high‑volume, patient‑facing environments
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
