Join an award-winning international B2B media company with a portfolio of large-scale business events, ambitious growth plans, and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping high-impact conference content.
At Key Media, you’ll drive the speaker acquisition and content delivery for HRFest Canada, securing senior-level speakers and working closely with sponsors to bring compelling, commercially aligned content to life.
We’re a thriving global media business with teams in Australia, Canada, the US, the UK, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe. Based in Toronto with hybrid flexibility, you’ll collaborate with colleagues worldwide and play a central role in delivering one of our flagship North American events.
About the Opportunity
This is a fast-paced, hands-on contract role (4–5 months) ideal for an experienced conference producer, event content specialist, or freelance event professional.
You’ll take ownership of speaker acquisition and agenda delivery—working across content, sales, and marketing to build a high-quality, commercially successful conference programme.
You’ll have the autonomy to:
- Own and deliver the speaker strategy for a large-scale, 2-day B2B event
- Secure ~150 speakers aligned to key agenda themes
- Manage sponsored speaking opportunities in collaboration with the sales team
- Shape agenda development through speaker insights and market research
- Act as the primary point of contact for all confirmed speakers
What You’ll Be Doing
- Identifying, researching, and prioritizing target speakers aligned to event themes and audience needs
- Proactively reaching out via email, LinkedIn, and calls to secure senior-level speakers
- Pitching speaking opportunities and running calls with C-suite and industry leaders
- Managing the full speaker pipeline using CRM tools (e.g., Salesloft)
- Working closely with the sales team to place sponsor speakers within the agenda
- Advising sponsors on content fit and managing sponsored speaking slots
- Tracking content inventory and available speaking opportunities
- Collaborating with marketing to deliver accurate and engaging event content:
- Collecting speaker headshots and bios
- Ensuring the website agenda is up to date
- Supporting email campaigns (EDMs) and content reviews
- Securing media and association partnerships
- Running pre-event briefing calls with speakers
- Acting as the main point of contact for speakers from confirmation through to the event
Why Join Us?
- Work on a flagship, high-profile event (HRFest Canada, November 10–11)
- Hybrid flexibility with access to our Toronto office
- Opportunity to collaborate with global teams across multiple regions
- High-impact role with visibility across content, sales, and marketing
- Fast-paced, dynamic environment where you’ll take full ownership of your work
- Ideal contract for experienced freelancers looking to deliver a major event
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- Proven experience in conference production, event content, or speaker acquisition
- Freelance or contract experience in B2B events is highly desirable
Communication:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident engaging and pitching to senior stakeholders, including C-suite
Content & Research Skills:
- Proactive researcher with the ability to identify high-value speakers
- Strong understanding of agenda-building and audience relevance
Stakeholder Management:
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with sales and marketing teams
- Experience managing sponsors and aligning commercial and content needs
Execution & Mindset:
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
