KLS Earthworks & Environmental is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Calgary-based team. This role is an addition to our strong maintenance group and plays a key part in keeping our on-road fleet operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance.

What You’ll Do
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on on-road construction equipment including gravel trucks, truck and pup combinations, end-dump trailers, lowboy trailers, equipment haulers, service trucks, and other commercial fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, driveline components, air brake systems, suspension systems, steering systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Complete preventative maintenance services including oil and fluid changes, filter replacements, inspections, greasing, hydraulic hose replacement, brake servicing, and fleet maintenance programs.
- Utilize diagnostic software, electronic testing equipment, and manufacturer service information to troubleshoot engine, emissions, ABS, electrical, and vehicle control systems.
- Perform Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections and ensure equipment complies with provincial and federal transportation regulations.
- Diagnose and repair trailer systems including air brakes, suspension components, lighting systems, hydraulic hoists, landing gear, and structural components.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair truck and trailer components using welding, cutting, hand tools, and power tools as required.
- Conduct safety inspections and road tests to verify repairs and ensure vehicles are operating safely and efficiently before returning them to service.
- Assist with equipment commissioning, fleet upgrades, and installation of truck and trailer accessories, components, and safety systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders while coordinating parts requirements and repair schedules.
- Respond to fleet breakdowns and provide field service support when required to minimize downtime and keep projects operating efficiently.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, transportation regulations, and industry best practices while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on heavy-duty equipment; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across a broad range of machinery including Packers, Pavers and Rollers.
- Proficiency with repair tools including hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and alignment equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various outdoor environments under different weather conditions.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical Components.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
