In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring Pre-K teachers. This individual will ensure our early childhood students receive world-class instruction in a safe and welcoming environment. Teachers must work to build inclusive, nurturing classrooms where students can be themselves and work collaboratively towards common learning goals. Teachers will work alongside other teachers, parents, and students to ensure they are providing the best education experience to all students.

Credentialing - Lead Teachers:
Lead Teachers must meet the GSRP qualifications upon hire. A Lead teacher will be considered credentialed for the position with minimally any of the following


This particular role is a Mandarin Chinese immersion teacher as well, so full fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.
  • A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Birth-K, or Pk-3 endorsement; or
  • A bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education.
  • Previous experience working with early childhood students
  • Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
  • Training in CRPBIS, HighScope, other related instructional methodologies
  • Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
  • Demonstrate passion for and expertise of early childhood content
  • Provide world-class instruction in math, literacy, social studies, and science to early childhood students
  • Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
  • Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
  • Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
  • Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.
  • Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families.
  • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students.
  • Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication.
  • Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
