In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring an Instructional Coach. 

Willow School is seeking a collaborative, student-centered Instructional Coach to support teaching and learning across our growing PreK–8 school community. The Instructional Coach will work closely with teachers and school leadership to strengthen classroom instruction, improve student achievement, support MTSS and intervention systems, and build instructional consistency across grade levels.

Responsibilities include instructional coaching, modeling lessons, co-planning, facilitating professional learning, supporting data analysis, mentoring teachers, and assisting with schoolwide instructional systems and improvement efforts. The position focuses on building teacher capacity and supporting high-quality Tier I instruction through non-evaluative coaching and collaborative support.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional knowledge, relationship-building skills, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to equity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum five years successful teaching experience
  • Strong understanding of effective instructional practices
  • Experience analyzing student data and supporting student growth
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Preferred qualifications include coaching, leadership, MTSS, literacy, mathematics, and professional development experience.
  • Improve student achievement through teacher created goals that improve instruction.
  • Utilize the LSD coaching models to provide support to all teachers via one-on-one coaching and teacher teams.
  • Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with teachers and administrators through effective and confidential communication.
  • Follow established protocol to pursue and initiate new coaching partnerships with teachers to maintain a full coaching caseload.
  • Provide professional learning follow-up implementation support through instructional coaching to connect new learning to improve instruction.
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness to meet teacher needs, including reviewing related research, identifying tools, and creating connections with others that have expertise in that area of need.
  • Maintain a professional calendar and instructional coaching log of coaching and non-coaching activities.
  • Participate in Instructional Coach leadership meetings, training, and PLCs (synchronous and asynchronous) to provide consistent and strategic support to all teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with other Instructional Coaches across the district.
  • Utilize existing curricular programs, platforms, and resources while collaborating with colleagues to provide robust support services.
  • Participate in specialized training as requested to provide support to teachers.
  • Continually monitor effectiveness using student data and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional discretion with teachers and coaches.
