We are looking for qualified individuals to apply for the role of Investment Analyst.

 

The role involves developing in-depth knowledge of one or more industries and their publicly traded companies, with the ultimate goal of helping to identify appropriate investments for the company's clients.

 

The nature of the work is diligent, detail-oriented, and focused on the long term. Analysts establish an array of forecasts and produce valuation models resulting in investment recommendations and ultimately portfolio investments. The scope of the work is global, as it includes the analysis of worldwide industry trends as well as the review of companies operating across geographies.

 

Successful candidates join Letko Brosseau’s Investment Team, a group of highly-talented and experienced investment professionals with deep industry expertise and relentless curiosity. Investment Analysts have the chance to contribute to the firm’s growth and success not only through their own portfolio recommendations, but also by participating in teamwide investment decisions.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Provide investment recommendations of securities within industry coverage;
  • Maintain up-to-date investment thesis and financial models on portfolio companies within industry coverage, and recommend changes to portfolio composition when appropriate;
  • Regularly meet with the management of publicly traded companies, visit their operations andperform any other required due diligence;
  • Develop a pipeline of potential investment opportunities;
  • Assist Client Servicing / Business Development in answering client queries, collecting data, and preparing presentations, promotional material, and framing communications when required;
  • Review proxies and determine how they should be voted in keeping with the firm’s proxy voting policies;
  • Actively participate in investment team meetings.


Required profile:


  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • MBA or M. Sc. in finances or other pertinent area;
  • Excellent academic results;
  • Between 1-5 years of relevant experience;
  • CFA charterholder (an asset);
  • Professional experience in the information technology, financial services, or telecommunications/cable industries (an asset).

  • Passion for investing and interest in financial markets.
  • Strong curiosity and a desire to learn about the world around us.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated and independent mindset, capable of working at times with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent research skills and resourcefulness in acquiring information.
  • A high level of judgment, with the ability to critically and independently analyze large amounts of information to make sound investment decisions.
  • Strong work ethic, discipline, and consistency in applying investment principles.
  • The technical knowledge required to analyze companies and investment opportunities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • A strong ability to excel as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written).
  • Multilingualism (French/English and/or other languages) is an asset.
