The Equipment Maintenance Technician III is a senior-level technical professional responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and optimizing highly automated manufacturing equipment and facility support systems. This position serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for complex equipment issues, supports continuous improvement initiatives, mentors junior technicians, and helps maximize equipment reliability, safety, quality, and production performance.
The Equipment Maintenance Technician III plays a critical role in maintaining production equipment used in electrode processing.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment.
- →Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, motion control, robotics, and PLC-controlled systems.
- →Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- →Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support during production operations.
- →Analyze equipment performance trends and recommend reliability improvements.
- →Execute predictive maintenance activities utilizing condition monitoring tools and techniques.
- →Lead equipment reliability improvement projects to increase uptime, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- →Support implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives.
- →Participate in root cause analysis activities
- →Recommend equipment modifications and process improvements to enhance performance and maintainability.
- →Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup of new manufacturing equipment.
- →Serve as a technical resource and mentor for Equipment Maintenance Technician I and II personnel.
- →Provide hands-on training and coaching on troubleshooting methodologies and maintenance best practices.
- →Assist in development and revision of maintenance procedures, PM schedules, and technical documentation.
- →Support cross-functional teams including Production, Engineering, Quality, Facilities, and EHS.
- →Follow all company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- →Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS systems.
- →Document maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts usage, and downtime events.
- →Update equipment history records and maintenance logs.
- →Support development of spare parts inventories and critical equipment strategies.
- →Provide detailed shift turnover communications and technical reports.
Requirements
~3 min read- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Automation Technology, or related technical field; or equivalent military/industrial experience.
- 15+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.
- Experience interpreting:
- Electrical schematics
- Mechanical drawings
- Pneumatic diagrams
- Hydraulic schematics
- Ability to work shift work, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Experience in lithium-ion battery, semiconductor, automotive, chemical processing, or advanced manufacturing industries.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics with Mitsubishi PLC, a plus
- Experience with industrial robotics systems.
- Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, servo drives, VFDs, vision systems, and automated material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS software systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or Reliability certifications.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in manufacturing environments.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work in cleanroom, dry room, and industrial manufacturing settings.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
