Do you thrive in challenging yet rewarding environments? Life Without Barriers is looking for multiple experienced Therapeutic Residential Care Support Workers to join our teams in Geelong. This is your opportunity to positively impact the lives of young individuals in a supportive and dynamic setting.
If you are successful in progressing to the interview rounds, you will be invited to attend our next assessment centre in Geelong, which will be held on Thursday 5th March 2026 from 8.30am, with a 9am start, until approx. 4.00 pm, if successful in moving through to the next stage, an interview will be conducted that afternoon or over the coming days via Teams, subject to time and availability. About the Role
~1 min readAs a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Work directly with young people in a 24/7 Residential Setting
- Follow fortnightly rotating shift rosters, including afternoons, evenings, active nights, and sleepovers, with weekend work required
- Support young people with complex behaviours and disabilities, catering to their individual needs
- Create a safe and nurturing environment to promote their well-being and development
Life Without Barriers offers a dedicated After-Hours Service (AHS) for all Child, Youth, and Family programs. AHS ensures efficient responses to after-hours events that cannot wait until the next business day, relieving our front-line staff from on-call duties and significantly improving their work-life balance.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide day-to-day care, supervision and transport to children and young people
- →Actively participate in activities and increase the competencies of young people
- →Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships
- →Develop, implement, and monitor individual plans
- →Actively support the child/young person to develop and maintain social skills
- →Maintenance of progress notes and report writing
Requirements
~1 min read- Prior knowledge and/or experience working with young people in Residential Care programs (essential).
- Hold or actively working toward a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or similar (essential).
- Completed Top Up Units in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (CHCMHS007, CHCPRT009, CHCCS009, CHCPRT010) or be prepared to enrol and complete these within 6 months of employment.
- Healing Matters Certificate (desirable).
- A current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain if successful) (essential).
- A current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence (essential).
- Ability to work various shifts (sleepover & active nights) throughout the week
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
