About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking an experienced Senior Youth Worker to provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to young people across a range of specialised community programs in the Toowoomba region.
This is a varied, community-based outreach role where no two days are the same. You will provide case management, mentoring, advocacy and practical support to empower young people to achieve greater independence, stability and positive life outcomes.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will report to the Program Manager and provide services across four specialised programs, each designed to support young people at different stages of their journey.
A Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program which provides nationally recognised training, mentoring, and employment support to disadvantaged young people. The program helps participants build skills, gain qualifications, improve job readiness, and transition into employment, training, or further education.
YHaRS supports young people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. The program assists young people to access and sustain safe accommodation while supporting them to reconnect with education, employment, family and community, promoting long-term independence and stability.
Nice to Have
~1 min readNext Step Plus supports young people transitioning from statutory care into adulthood. The program focuses on building independent living skills, strengthening support networks and assisting participants to access education, training and employment opportunities as they move towards independent living.
Extended Post Care Support provides ongoing practical assistance and tailored case management to young adults who have left care. The program supports participants to maintain stable housing, continue their education or employment pathways and access services that promote long-term wellbeing and independence.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Deliver strengths-based, trauma-informed case management across multiple community programs.
- →Build positive, trusting relationships with young people experiencing complex circumstances.
- →Develop, implement and review individual support plans that reflect each young person's goals and aspirations.
- →Support young people to achieve positive outcomes in housing, education, employment, wellbeing and independent living.
- →Provide mentoring, advocacy and practical support to promote resilience and self-determination.
- →Collaborate with families, carers, community organisations, employers, education providers and government agencies.
- →Coordinate referrals and facilitate access to appropriate supports and services.
- →Maintain accurate case notes, reporting and documentation in accordance with organisational and funding requirements.
- →Participate in outreach activities and contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
~1 min read- Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent), or currently working towards.
- Demonstrated experience supporting vulnerable young people in one or more of the following areas:
- Youth services
- Homelessness
- Youth justice
- Out-of-home care or post-care services
- Employment services
- Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD)
- Mental health
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe and person-centred practice.
- Experience working with young people presenting with complex needs.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational, documentation and time management skills.
- Current Australian Driver Licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Successful candidates will be required to complete relevant probity checks, including a National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check (where applicable).
