Phlebotomist

Description

• →Provide a welcoming, positive experience for blood donors while helping support a lifesaving mission
• →Perform phlebotomy and collect blood from donors in accordance with LifeSouth procedures and safety standards
• →Conduct donor screenings, including interviews and physical assessments, to help determine eligibility
• →Register donors and accurately document information throughout the donation process
• →Learn to operate automated blood collection equipment and perform apheresis procedures once trained
• →Ensure donors are accurately identified at every step of the donation process
• →Educate donors about donation options and help identify opportunities for automated donations when appropriate
• →Support donor recruitment and retention by encouraging future donations and assisting with rescheduling
• →Work closely with your team to create a safe, efficient and positive donation experiencephlebotomies and collect blood from donors according to LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

• High school diploma or GED
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth’s driver eligibility requirements
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to make donors feel comfortable and cared for
• A team-oriented mindset and willingness to support coworkers in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accuracy while performing multiple responsibilities
• Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures and instructions
• Previous customer service experience is preferred
• CDL holders are preferred, with additional compensation available

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
