Position Overview:


The position of Senior Adviser – Data and Market Insights leads the organisation’s data, research and insights capability to support evidence-based decision making across the organisation. The role provides strategic and operational insight to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and departments across the organisation to inform strategy, member value, policy advocacy and commercial decisions.


This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organisation with a clear direction and commitment to promoting the highest standards of ethical and legal practice, education and service excellence in the practice and administration of law. The role supports the organisation’s broader mission to ensure the community benefits from strong legal representation, effective advocacy and a fair and equitable legal and justice system.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s data and insights capability to support strategic decision making across the organisation.
  • Design and implement an insights roadmap aligned with organisational priorities and the strategic plan.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a program of market and member research to better understand the needs, priorities and challenges of the legal profession.
  • Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research activities including surveys, interviews, focus groups and practitioner panels.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate data governance frameworks to support the integrity, accessibility and security of organisational data assets.
  • Develop and maintain data standards, definitions and documentation to ensure consistency and reliability of organisational data.
  • Translate complex analytical information into clear and concise narratives for executives, Board members and key internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development of data literacy and analytical capability across the organisation.


To be considered, you must demonstrate:


  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as data analytics, economics, statistics, business, marketing, research, or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
  • Experience or familiarity with the legal sector, professional associations or policy environments would be advantageous.


Skills and Experience Required


  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics, insights, market research or data strategy, ideally within professional services, membership organisations, education or service sectors.
  • Strong analytical capability including the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into meaningful organisational outcomes.
  • Experience using business intelligence and data tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL and advanced Excel.
  • Experience designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research including survey design and data analysis.
