Job Summary
The Apprentice Electrician / Fire Alarm Technician works under the direction of Journeyman Electricians and is responsible for supporting the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of industrial and commercial electrical systems, as well as fire alarm and critical life safety systems.
This role requires hands-on experience in both electrical work and fire alarm system installation and maintenance, with the ability to follow technical instructions, engineering drawings, and local codes.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Observe, learn, and understand a wide range of skills and processes under the instruction of a skilled electrician.
- Demonstrate these skills and processes as on-the-job training progresses by working independently or with others to complete assigned tasks.
- Learn and understand the importance of safety within the workspace and across projects.
- Learn about the various tools and materials required for electricians to complete tasks and projects.
- Maintain good housekeeping and organization in the work area.
- Properly utilize the required tools and equipment for each specific task.
- Documentation, panel programming, and as-built updates
- Inspection, testing, and service of existing systems
- Installation of fire alarm systems — addressable and conventional
Required:
- Prior experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings or directly related experience
- Solid understanding of fire alarm codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and relevant building and fire codes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for fire alarm equipment

1–4 years of electrical experience.

Strong understanding of the importance of quality.

Ability to communicate effectively with others to promote efficiency
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Strong understanding of the importance of quality work
