~1 min readThe Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily pipeline construction, installation, maintenance, and repair activities. This role provides direct supervision to field crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with company standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The Pipeline Foreman serves as the primary field leader and acts as the key liaison between craft personnel, subcontractors, and project management.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Supervise and direct pipeline construction crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipeline systems.
- →Plan and coordinate daily work activities, manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
- →Review project drawings, specifications, alignment sheets, and construction schedules.
- →Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- →Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company policies.
- →Coordinate excavation, trenching, pipe installation, welding, coating, hydrostatic testing, tie-ins, and restoration activities.
- →Verify elevations, grades, alignments, and installation requirements are met according to project specifications.
- →Monitor crew productivity, project progress, and quality standards.
- →Identify and resolve field issues that could impact project schedules or budgets.
- →Coordinate with inspectors, utility companies, landowners, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- →Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, timesheets, equipment utilization reports, and safety documentation.
- →Ensure proper use, maintenance, and accountability of company equipment and tools.
- →Train and mentor crew members, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- →Assist project management with project planning, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- →Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of pipeline construction experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or foreman experience leading pipeline crews.
- Strong understanding of pipeline construction methods, excavation, trench safety, and utility coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, alignment sheets, and survey information.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and client-required screenings.
- Experience with oil & gas, natural gas, water, wastewater, or industrial pipeline projects.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- NCCER Foreman Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Competent Person Trenching and Excavation Certification.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work crews.
- Knowledge of hydrostatic testing, welding inspection processes, and pipeline integrity requirements.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and travel as project demands require.
- Ability to safely access active construction sites and uneven terrain.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong understanding of pipeline construction equipment and methods.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, clients, and field personnel.
- Heavy civil and pipeline construction projects.
- Exposure to construction equipment, noise, dust, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
- Travel between project locations may be required.
