Stationary Engineer / Boiler Operator

• →Operate, monitor, and maintain high‑pressure boilers (light‑off, warm‑up, shutdown, fuel switching, safety device testing).
• →Record hourly plant readings: pressures, temperatures, fuel flow, steam flow, condensate return, and equipment performance.
• →Maintain boiler and cooling tower water chemistry; perform blowdowns and mud drum maintenance.
• →Start, stop, and adjust HVAC, chilled water, and heating systems to maintain environmental conditions.
• →Conduct daily rounds of mechanical rooms, AHUs, chillers, exhaust systems, penthouses, and critical care areas.
• →Perform routine maintenance (filters, belts, lubrication, strainers) and minor repairs (valves, piping up to 6", motors up to 100 HP).
• →Respond to alarms and emergencies: low water, loss of feedwater/condensate, power loss, CO/combustible alarms, safety shutdowns.
• →Document all shift activities, equipment issues, safety device failures, and turnover notes.
• →Coordinate with VA Boiler Plant Supervisor and follow all safety, reporting, and operational procedures.

• Valid City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License. Please include a copy with your submitted resume.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with high‑pressure boilers and large‑scale HVAC systems.

• Lift 50–75 lbs; work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
• Wear PPE including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, and steel‑toe boots.
• Ability to distinguish alarms, colors, and read gauges accurately.

• Rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Minimum 40 hours/week; overtime with prior approval.
