As an Electrical Commissioning Lead, you will serve as a working leader, balancing hands-on commissioning responsibilities with leadership of project execution activities. You will actively perform and oversee electrical commissioning while coordinating with project teams, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. This role requires a collaborative leader who is comfortable leading meetings, mentoring team members, and remaining actively involved in field execution throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical commissioning activities from construction through final turnover for medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems within mission-critical facilities.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, sequence of operations, submittals, and commissioning documentation to verify compliance with project requirements and design intent.
  • Perform design and constructability reviews, providing commissioning input throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project management, construction teams, electrical contractors, equipment vendors, client representatives, and other project stakeholders.
  • Review and witness installation verification activities, QA/QC inspections, vendor startups, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and electrical energization activities.
  • Develop, review, and execute commissioning documentation, including installation verification checklists, startup checklists, Operational Acceptance Tests (OAT), Integrated Systems Tests (IST), and final commissioning reports.
  • Witness electrical testing performed by contractors and third-party testing agencies, including NETA acceptance testing, and verify systems operate safely and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Lead commissioning activities for electrical systems including switchgear, substations, transformers, panelboards, UPS systems, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control equipment, grounding systems, lighting controls, and power monitoring systems.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify resolution of commissioning deficiencies through final closeout.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records, progress reporting, and project documentation throughout the commissioning process.
  • Support system turnover by verifying completion of commissioning documentation, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, training documentation, and closeout packages.
  • Lead Owner training sessions and support final project acceptance activities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all commissioning activities are performed in accordance with project safety requirements and NFPA 70E electrical safe work practices.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

  • Strong knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems within mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience leading electrical commissioning activities from construction through project turnover.
  • Proficiency reviewing electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and commissioning documentation.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes including FAT, SAT, OAT, IST, startup, and system turnover.
  • Knowledge of NETA acceptance testing and electrical commissioning best practices.
  • Experience commissioning switchgear, substations, transformers, UPS systems, generators, ATS, VFDs, motor control equipment, grounding systems, lighting controls, and power monitoring systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead meetings and present to project stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership potential with the ability to influence teams, drive accountability, and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage commissioning deficiencies through resolution and closeout.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting a strong safety culture.

  • Journeyman Electrician License or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical commissioning or mission-critical facilities required.
  • Medium Voltage electrical commissioning experience required.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safe work practices preferred.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
