Job Purpose The Athletics & Wellness Internship is designed to support the successful implementation of our summer drop-in and enrolled sports and wellness programs. The intern plays a key role in program operations by assisting with supervision of kamalei (youth participants/beneficiaries), providing hands-on program support, and helping ensure a safe, structured, and engaging environment. In addition, the intern serves as a collaborative thought partner to continuously strengthen the quality, safety, and overall impact of our athletics and wellness department programming. Learning Objectives Youth Engagement & Facilitation – Build hands-on skills in supervising and supporting kamalei in sports and wellness programming. Safety & Risk Management – Gain practical experience maintaining a safe, inclusive program environment. Program Operations Exposure – Develop an understanding of athletics and wellness program coordination and daily logistics. Professional Communication & Leadership – Strengthen teamwork, communication, and emerging leadership skills through active collaboration and reflection. Essential Responsibilities Assist with setup and breakdown of sports and wellness programming spaces and equipment. Support supervision of kamalei during drop-in and enrolled programs. Help facilitate drills, activities, and basic sports/wellness exercises under team guidance. Participate in team meetings and share observations. Conduct kamalei check-in/check-out support and basic attendance tracking. Observe and report safety concerns or incidents to athletics and wellness team. Shadow athletics and wellness team members to learn department workflows.  Other Duties Adheres to internship program guidelines and supports department needs as assigned. Completes a variety of tasks that provide broad exposure to departmental workflows. Actively builds new skills, strengthens existing abilities, and applies learning to real‑world projects and responsibilities. Qualifications High School Diploma or associate’s degree required. Interest in learning and contributing to LT’s mission Experience participating in athletics, clubs, or team-based activities. Ability to work collaboratively within a creative and kamalei-centered environment. Strong communication skills. Willingness to collaborate and take initiative Basic understanding of classroom management or instructional support.
