About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Associate Interior Components and Systems engineer with foundational experience or strong interest in automotive interiors, including areas such as hard trim, soft trim, instrument panels, door trims, consoles, headliners, and related assemblies. You will support the packaging, engineering, release, and launch of Interior Components and Systems in the Lucid portfolio while working closely with senior engineers, cross-functional partners, and interior trim suppliers to help deliver technically robust solutions on time.

What You'll Own

  • Support assigned products throughout the development lifecycle, from concept creation and packaging through engineering release, prototype builds, validation, manufacturing launch, and production support, with guidance from senior engineers and program leaders.
  • Create industry-leading interior solutions that deliver exceptional luxury, craftsmanship, comfort, ergonomics, performance, safety, quality, and functionality while meeting cost, mass, timing, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering deliverables including technical requirements, CAD models and drawings, Design Verification Plans (DVP&R), DFMEAs, validation plans, engineering releases, and issue-management documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, Marketing, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve program milestones.
  • Support technical engagement with suppliers, including design reviews, feasibility assessments, quote reviews, cost optimization activities, development tracking, and delivery of engineering milestones.
  • Utilize CAD and engineering analysis tools to develop robust, manufacturable designs that meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Participate in prototype, validation, and production builds by helping identify, document, and resolve design, quality, manufacturing, and supplier-related issues with support from senior engineers and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing innovative tools, processes, and methodologies that improve product quality, engineering efficiency, and development effectiveness.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices by sharing lessons learned, documenting solutions, and actively learning from senior engineers and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and components by identifying risks early, escalating issues appropriately, supporting resolution, and delivering high-quality work with urgency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0–2+ years of experience or relevant internship, co-op, academic project, or early-career engineering experience related to the design, development, validation, release, or launch of automotive Interior Components and Systems, including one or more of the following: soft trim, hard trim, instrument panels, door trims, center consoles, headliners, pillars, package trays, decorative trim, or related assemblies.
  • Exposure to one or more phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept creation, packaging, engineering release, validation, industrialization, or production launch.
  • Foundational knowledge of automotive interior systems, materials, manufacturing processes, industry benchmarks, customer quality expectations, and supplier capabilities, with a willingness to deepen technical expertise through hands-on program work.
  • Familiarity with engineering deliverables such as product specifications, Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), validation plans, engineering releases, and issue-management activities.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD tools for 3D modeling, packaging studies, concept development, drafting, design reviews, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) evaluations.
  • Exposure to vehicle launch activities, including prototype builds, validation activities, production readiness reviews, issue resolution, or support through Start of Production (SOP).
  • Experience collaborating across Design, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Program Management, and supplier organizations to deliver complex automotive systems.
  • Exposure to supplier engagement activities such as feasibility reviews, sourcing support, quote review, cost optimization, development tracking, or launch readiness activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause investigation skills, with the ability to balance technical, manufacturing, quality, cost, mass, and timing requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, build alignment, and drive execution in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership, curiosity, and accountability, including the ability to learn quickly, support technical reviews, manage assigned priorities, and contribute to successful program outcomes.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing premium or luxury automotive interior systems.
  • Exposure to one or more vehicle programs from concept through production, including academic, internship, supplier, or early-career engineering experience.
  • Exposure to APQP, GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, FMEA facilitation, or automotive quality processes.
  • Working knowledge of craftsmanship, fit-and-finish, durability, NVH, ergonomics, safety, and customer-perceived quality requirements for interior systems.
  • Interest in developing technical breadth by learning from senior engineers and contributing to cross-functional engineering activities across global teams.
