UDN, Inc is looking for a skilled, dependable Commercial Lead Carpenter to join our construction team. We need a versatile carpenter who can take ownership of assigned work, coordinate with our foreman and complete projects correctly without requiring constant supervision.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced carpenter who takes pride in their work, solves problems in the field, and can be trusted to keep a job moving. Depending on the project, you may work independently or be paired with a less-experienced carpenter or laborer whom you will help direct and develop.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform a wide range of commercial carpentry and general construction work
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and field dimensions
  • Plan and complete assigned work with limited supervision
  • Coordinate daily activities and priorities with the project foreman
  • Direct and work alongside junior carpenters and laborers
  • Identify field issues and communicate them before they affect schedule or quality
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional jobsite
  • Protect completed work and maintain UDN’s standards for quality and craftsmanship
  • Work productively with subcontractors, owners, and other project team members

Qualifications:
  • 4-5 years of hands-on carpentry experience, preferably on commercial construction projects
  • Broad experience with commercial interiors, doors and hardware, framing, drywall, ceilings, trim, blocking, and general jobsite work
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments without continuous supervision
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand project requirements
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to quality workmanship
  • Comfortable guiding a less-experienced carpenter or laborer
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Most of our projects are within Monroe County but we do range from Buffalo to Syracuse so some travel may be required on a case by case basis.

Compensation:
  • $30.00-$37.00 per hour based on experience plus prevailing wage opportunities
