Public Policy Manager, State and Local

 Lyft is looking for an experienced Public Policy Manager to join our Policy Team! Based in New York City, this position will manage our local NYC policy efforts. This policy expert will work directly with elected officials, policymakers, and key stakeholders. They will deal with a range of political, regulatory, and government issues that are critical to the company. Come join the exciting ride! 

• →Execute Lyft’s legislative, regulatory, and political strategy. 
• →Represent Lyft in all interactions with electeds, government officials and staff 
• →Track legislation relevant to Lyft at municipal and county levels
• →Work cross-functionally with Lyft senior management on developing public policy priorities 
• →Work closely with Lyft’s Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Marketplace teams on developing market strategy 
• →Track and respond to government inquiries and requests on policy issues
• →Partner with policymakers from across the political spectrum in the best interests of rideshare drivers and riders
• →Inform company stakeholders and lines of business on legislative and regulatory developments 
• →Manage external consultants to assist with key Lyft policy priorities
• →Manage strategic relationships with external stakeholders and third party organizations based in NYC.
• →Draft comments, talking points and memos for senior Lyft executives
• →Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with strategic local third party and business groups, local nonprofits and community organizations leveraging Lyft’s internal programs and product offerings
• →Develop strategic public engagement plans positioning Lyft as a “Force for Good” and reliable thought partner to city officials and third party groups in the NYC market
• →Oversee local budget and work cross-functionally with Lyft senior management on drafting plans developing public policy priorities
• →Mobilize supporters and activists to show their support during key legislative moments
• →Travel throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC

• 5+ years of political, government, and/or government relations experience
• Experience directly lobbying government officials on complex issues
• Natural connector and relationship builder 
• Exceptional strategic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment
• Proven self-starter with experience leading and winning on complex policy issues
