SUMMARY 

At Magnolia, the Assistant Buyer is responsible for supporting the Buyer or Senior Buyer with category management, product development, vendor communication, and reporting analysis. This position works from Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Buyer or Senior Buyer and has no supervisory responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support Buyer/Senior Buyer with product development that aligns with Divisional and Departmental strategies* 
  • Analyze weekly sales and data to present high-level learnings to the leadership team on a weekly basis* 
  • Strategically research and identify new vendors and assortment opportunities that reflect the overall category strategy 
  • Onboard vendors and create products in NetSuite, Shopify, and Toolio 
  • Ensure product accuracy with consistent systems maintenance and troubleshooting issues* 
  • Maintain and update Master SKU Lists for assigned categories 
  • Maintain communication with vendors regarding product information, payment terms, costing, timelines, lead times, etc.* 
  • Own sample tracking and organization throughout product development process, inclusive of product presentations and pass-offs to cross-functional teams 
  • Maintain knowledge of brand and trend awareness; perform store walk-throughs and competitive shop to stay abreast of trends in the industry 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred 
  • 0-2 years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
