Who We Are

Malin Group is a Glasgow-based engineering services company with a rich heritage in the marine industry, dating back over 120 years. The Group provides comprehensive, end-to-end solutions across various sectors, including shipbuilding, heavy lift, renewables, nuclear, oil & gas, and marine services.

We are driven by three core values that inform every decision, every action, and every interaction. We Care, We Share and We Thrive – these three pillars form the foundation upon which our company is built.

About The Role

We’re looking for a capable and technically strong Finance Manager – Financial Reporting & Controls to join our Finance Team.

This is a varied role with a particular focus on financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit preparation, balance sheet control, and robust finance processes across the Group. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group Finance Director and wider Finance Team to ensure accurate reporting, effective controls, and high-quality financial information.

This role would suit a qualified or recently qualified accountant, ideally with an audit or practice background, who is looking to move into a varied industry role. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting, reporting, and controls experience, while developing their knowledge of project finance, forecasting, and operational reporting within the Group.

Key responsibilities in this role:

  • Supporting monthly and quarterly management accounts preparation.
  • Assisting with statutory accounts, audit preparation, and year-end reporting.
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and revenue recognition.
  • Supporting financial controls, accounting policies, and compliance processes.
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting.
  • Supporting project financial reporting, cost tracking, and margin analysis.
  • Working with operational teams to improve the quality and accuracy of financial information.

Skills And Experience

  • Qualified or recently qualified accountant, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Audit or practice background would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, statutory accounts, and balance sheet controls.
  • Good knowledge of accounting standards, audit requirements, and year-end processes.
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator, able to work with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Comfortable using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in project-based, engineering, construction, or manufacturing environments would be beneficial but is not essential.

Where You Will Be Working

We have two main office locations: our head office based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the south bank of the River Clyde, and our welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, Renfrew.

You will work primarily with the Finance Team, with time spent at South Rotunda and occasional visits to Westway Business Park as required. Some home working may be available depending on business needs and the requirements of the role.

How You’ll Be Rewarded

As well as a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits that you can choose from and tailor to your needs.

  • 34 days annual leave, with an additional day off on your birthday
  • Competitive pension contributions
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Employee discounts
  • Death In Service
  • Cycle Scheme and Green Car Benefit
  • Supportive working environment within an experienced Finance Team
  • Flexible working - with the option to finish at lunchtime on a Friday
