MatPel Builders is a premier general contractor specializing in architecturally driven, high-end residential and light commercial projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our work spans modern custom homes, historic renovations, complex remodels, and ground-up builds.


We are looking for a skilled, hands-on Construction Superintendent to join our South Bay team. The ideal candidate brings strong trade knowledge, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset. You should be comfortable leading teams and delivering excellence to a discerning clientele.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor field crews
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to execute work efficiently and profitably
  • Coordinate jobsite layout, excavation depths, and elevations
  • Partner with architects, designers, and engineers to resolve field challenges
  • Manage labor needs and communicate with HR and Senior Superintendents
  • Maintain schedules, generate material lists, and track deliveries
  • Lead daily reporting in Procore, including photo documentation
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and productivity
  • Review plans and provide clear direction to subcontractors
  • Enforce site safety and cleanliness standards at all times
  • Perform carpentry tasks as needed, including finish work
  • Ensure timely punch-list completion and client satisfaction


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of superintendent experience in high-end residential construction
  • Strong background in carpentry
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable
  • Comfortable reading plans, managing budgets, and working with numbers
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle (truck or van preferred)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and meet physical demands of the job


Preferred

  • College degree or trade school certification
  • 10+ years in luxury residential construction
  • Experience with modern architectural styles
  • Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship
