Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking Deputy Chief Accounting Officer (DCAO) & Head of Regulatory Reporting to join our Finance leadership team. As the Deputy Chief Accounting Officer (DCAO), you will own the Bank’s financial accounting, statutory and regulatory reporting as well as tax compliance matters across all the markets where we operate in. You will be the driving force behind financial integrity, accuracy and compliance as well as a catalyst for change, helping us evolve, automate, and streamline our finance function.

Duties and responsibilities:
Deputy Chief Accounting Officer (50% at inception the increasing):
- Oversee the end-to-end accounting for the Bank’s balance sheet and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies
- Manage the preparation and audit of the statutory financial statements and coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth and timely completion of audits
- Ensure compliance with evolving local and international accounting, regulatory and taxation framework and governance standards
- Oversee the preparation and submission of all direct and indirect tax returns across jurisdictions
- Design, implement and maintain robust controls and governance over financial accounting, regulatory reporting and tax reporting processes
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CAO on accounting, tax, and regulatory matters
- Keep the Bank ahead of changes in accounting, regulatory and tax frameworks, assess their implications on MeDirect and for the Bank’s financial, regulatory and tax reporting and translate those changes into smart, actionable strategies
- Partner with the Tech and Product teams to ensure new products and features are launched with proper accounting and financial controls embedded from the start
- Serve as a key liaison with external auditors, managing the audit process and addressing technical accounting issues
Head of Regulatory Reporting (50% at inception then decreasing):
- Lead the Bank’s regulatory reporting function, ensuring accurate and timely submission of all returns to supervisory authorities
- Own the end-to-end process for the accurate and timely submission of all regulatory reports to relevant national authorities and the ECB
- Establish and maintain a robust regulatory reporting framework, including detailed policy, procedures, and control documentation
- Interpret new and evolving regulatory requirements and implement necessary changes to processes and systems
- Act as the primary subject matter expert and contact for all regulatory reporting queries from internal stakeholders and the regulators themselves
- Drive the automation of regulatory reporting through collaboration with Data Engineering and FinTech solutions, moving from manual spreadsheets to integrated, controlled systems
Leadership & Strategy (For both areas):
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of accounting and regulatory reporting professionals
- Develop and execute a roadmap to mature the finance function, focusing on scalability, control, and automation
- Present reporting insights, key issues, and strategic recommendations to the Executive Committee and Audit & Risk Committee
Required knowledge, skills and experience:
- Professional accounting qualification
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, tax, and regulatory reporting within the banking or financial services sector, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated leadership presence to inspire a team, people management capabilities and collaborative partnership
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills
- A mix of "Big 4" public accounting and industry experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth, or public company environment
- Experience with Navision accounting systems and/or experience in programming language i.e Python will be viewed as an asset
