Yes to a diverse community Be part of a better internet Medium Rules Operating Principles Read about our story here .
Medium is building the best place for reading and writing on the internet—a place where thoughtful ideas can find an audience, and where writers, experts, and storytellers are rewarded for depth rather than for capturing fleeting attention.
Every day, millions of people come to Medium to read stories that expand their understanding of the world. Behind that experience is a web platform that powers everything from discovery and publishing to subscriptions and community.
We are a fully remote company with teammates across the U.S. and France. Our work is shaped by four operating principles: Humans First, Deepen Understanding, Orient for Impact, and Ladder Together. We believe the internet should reward meaningful ideas, and we’re building the technology to support that vision.
As a Staff Frontend Engineer on the ML & Insights team, you will own the product surfaces where Medium's machine-learning algorithms meet our readers. You’ll be the driving force behind how new ML product experiences look, feel, and perform for millions of Medium users around the world.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role. As the sole web engineer on the team, you’ll own complex frontend initiatives and designs, move fluidly across the stack (from React components to API integrations to experiment wiring), and partner closely with our team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers to translate model outputs into growth experiments and new product experiences. Your work will ensure our web stack remains fast, reliable, and capable of supporting new ML features and experiences.
Staff engineers at Medium also act as technical leaders with impact across teams. You’ll partner closely with engineers, designers, and cross-functional leaders to tackle ambiguous problems, drive alignment on technical approaches, and raise the bar for frontend engineering across the organization. If this sounds like you, we’d love to connect!
