Financial planning is the foundation of Mercer Advisors. As a Wealth Strategist, you play a critical role in helping Regional Vice Presidents and Wealth Advisors engage prospective clients through high-quality, thoughtful financial planning.
In this role, you will develop comprehensive draft financial plans and related analyses that clearly communicate Mercer’s planning approach and value proposition. You will assess complex client situations, identify planning opportunities, and provide structured guidance to advisors during the prospecting and onboarding process.
This role offers growth opportunities within planning and advisory tracks. Success in this role is measured by timeliness, RVP and advisor satisfaction, and prospect conversion.
- Developing high quality draft financial plans that clearly articulate Mercer’s planning value and support successful support conversion.
- Development includes, but is not limited to, eMoney financial plan creation, net worth statement and cash flow analysis, investment analysis, tax analysis, insurance analysis, and retirement plan optimization.
- Assess a prospective client’s financial situation and provide initial planning diagnoses and recommendations to Regional Vice Presidents and Wealth Advisors.
- Collaborate with advisors and other team members to support prospect meetings and planning discussions.
- Participate in department-wide and firmwide initiatives focused on process improvement, automation, and scalability of financial planning deliverables.
- Maintain and deepen planning expertise through internal training, external education, industry participation, and self-study.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the planning and advisory teams.
Required:
- Series 65 (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
- 1–2 years of direct financial planning experience
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Preferred:
- CFP® designation or certifications preferred
- Experience with eMoney and financial planning software
- Familiarity with tax, investment, and financial research tools
- Experience supporting advisors in a client-facing or prospecting capacity
