Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n
Nature of Work
\r\n\r\nThe fundamental reason this\r\nclassification exists is to perform supervisory and participatory recreation\r\nwork directing a large staff, administering recreation and/or athletic programs\r\nfor the public, and providing services and facilities for organized groups at a\r\nlarge recreation center and gym facility.\r\nCommunity Center Director IIIs are responsible for the organization and\r\nimplementation of programs at the recreation center.� The essential functions are supervising\r\nemployees and volunteers; overseeing and assisting staff in the administration\r\nof recreation and/or athletic programs; manages the community center’s\r\nfinancial resources; and contributes to the department objectives.� �Employees\r\nin this class typically supervise Recreation Leader IIs and Is, Recreation\r\nAides, and volunteers.� The Community\r\nCenter Director III is distinguished from the Community Center II in that the\r\nDirector III conducts selected activities at a larger facility and supervises a\r\nlarger staff (including coaches) with programs/activities designed for organized\r\nathletics programs as well as open gym activities. The Director II is\r\ndistinguished from the Director III in that the Director II is more involved in\r\nleading non-athletic programs and is generally assigned to a smaller facility\r\nwith a smaller staff. Community Center Director IIIs report to the Recreation\r\nArea Supervisor.\r\n\r\n\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
\r\n\r\nBachelor's degree in Health, Physical\r\nEducation and Recreation (HPER),\r\nRecreation Administration, or a closely related\r\nfield and two (2) years of professional supervisory experience in the\r\nadministration of recreation and/or athletic programs in a parks and recreation\r\ndepartment, school or agency.\r\nNOTE:� Qualifying\r\neducation, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills\r\nand abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n\r\n
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid\r\nDriver’s license and insurable driving record.\r\nMay be\r\nrequired to work nights, weekends, and overtime and be on-call for special\r\nevents, emergencies, and security alarm calls.\r\n
Kind of Examination
