Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. \r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** \r\n

Nature of Work

The\r\nfundamental reason this classification exists is to supervise and oversee the\r\nclerical and data entry functions essential to the daily operations of the\r\nMunicipal Court. Employees in this class ensure that court procedures are\r\nfollowed accurately and efficiently, thereby maintaining the integrity of court\r\nrecords and case management processes. The work responsibilities include\r\nperforming clerical duties to support Municipal Court operations, supervising\r\ncourt staff, conducting legal research, managing personnel functions, preparing\r\nand reconciling bank deposits, performing criminal justice information\r\nsearches, maintaining accurate records, and preparing legal and non-legal\r\ndocuments. Employees perform technical court clerical and data entry duties, which\r\nmay require initiative and independent judgment based on established court and\r\ndepartmental procedures. Work is performed under the supervision of the\r\nMunicipal Court Administrator.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma\r\nor G.E.D and five (5) years of\r\nexperience in law enforcement or the legal field, including two (2) years of\r\nsupervisory experience.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:\r\nFive (5) years of experience as Court Operations Clerk II/Magistrate\r\nwill qualify for this position.\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:� Qualifying education, training\r\nand experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to\r\nperform the job will be considered.\r\n

Special Requirements

Must be certified as a Municipal Court Clerk\r\nor Magistrate. Must meet annual continuing educational\r\nrequirements as prescribed by the Alabama\r\nAdministrative Office of Courts. Will be required to obtain the ACJIS/NCIC\r\nCertification within six (6) months of employment as prescribed by the Alabama\r\nLaw Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Must meet annual continuing certification\r\nrequirements as prescribed by ALEA. Must be willing to telecommute and work\r\novertime as needed to accomplish department objectives.\r\n

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Municipal Court Department.
